Alternatives to Dental Implants

Alternatives to Dental Implants

So you've made the decision that implants aren't for you? That's fine; there are a variety of reasons why dental implants may not be right for you. Some individuals believe they are out of their budget, while others have health concerns that limit their capacity to recover, and still others may simply prefer a detachable option. We'll go over some dental implant options in this blog that might be a good fit for you.

Let's take a look at the first dental implant option: a dental bridge. What is the definition of a dental bridge? When a single tooth is lost, a dental bridge is usually the best solution. A traditional bridge necessitates tooth preparation on both sides to support a tooth in place of the lost tooth. This is because the new tooth will be supported by three crowns that are linked together on either side.

This is a less expensive option that eliminates the need to cut good teeth, but they do have a tendency to debond. If you only have one missing tooth, a bridge may be a better option than a partial denture. Dentures, on the other hand, will be discussed later. The strength of your supporting teeth, for example, will determine whether you need a conventional or adhesive bridge.

You can do nothing. Sometimes people don’t want to replace their missing teeth. This is most common with singularly missing teeth. Whilst not replacing teeth can allow your jaw bone to reduce in density, it is possible to live with your missing teeth.

Then there's dentures. You can get a flexible denture, 'flexible partials,' or even full dentures in a variety of forms and sizes. There are various sorts, and you can even get permanent dentures, sometimes called ‘snap in’ or ‘snap on' dentures, in the shape of all-on-4 dental implants, but we'll just be talking about removable dentures here!

The most common concern when it comes to dentures is whether or not they will stay in place. Dentures today are a lot more trustworthy than they used to be, and their snug fit helps to hold them in place, but you can also use denture adhesive.

What exactly are dentures?
Dentures are removable fake teeth that fit over the gums and existing teeth and are composed of a form of plastic called acrylic. When the majority of your mouth is missing teeth, you may need a full denture, or your dentist may recommend a partial denture if you have three or more missing teeth in a row. So now you know what a partial and full denture is, but what is a flexible denture? Flexible dentures, such as valplast dentures, may be familiar to you. Flexible partial dentures are a form of partial denture that looks more natural and fits better.

With a denture, hygiene is a must.
Plaque can build up around the clasps (which hold the denture to the teeth) or around the gum line when you have a denture, especially if you have a partial denture. Cleaning the denture twice a day, soaking it overnight, and not wearing it overnight are all recommendations.

When wearing a denture, hygiene appointments are especially recommended since they allow a dentist to check for the plaque on your teeth and behind your gum line. Keeping up with good hygiene practices also helps to keep your denture in good condition.

What is the best way to clean your denture?
It's simple to keep your dentures clean. To remove any food or plaque from the denture, a soft-bristled brush and a nonabrasive denture cleanser are recommended. You should clean the groove where the denture glue was applied as well, but never use denture cleaner inside your mouth. Because most dentures will lose their shape if they are not maintained moist, it is critical that you soak them overnight in either tap or distilled water.

To avoid germs and plaque buildup, clean any remaining teeth in your mouth or your gums twice a day.

Are you considering getting dentures?

The greatest thing you can do is schedule a consultation with a dentist to determine what your needs are. We propose searching for a 'denture near me ' to acquire a list of nearby dentists who provide dentures. Their website should provide an estimate of the cost of their dentures, but you may always call and enquire, you may need to discuss your needs before quotation.

Some dentists provide a free virtual consultation, which we always encourage because it can help apprehensive patients relax, and you won't have to pay for an initial consultation to get your questions answered. We hope we've answered all of your questions concerning implant alternatives. Replacing lost teeth can be frightening, but keep in mind that your dentist is there to assist you.
